The Yen Tu spring festival 2021 was officially launched on February 21, or the 10th day of the first lunar month, by the Quang Ninh provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council. The event ensured all strict Covid-19 prevention methods.
The procession ceremony was held simply at Hoa Yen Pagoda (Yen Tu scenic area).
Unlike every year, if the Yen Tu opening ceremony had the participation of tens of thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists and people of all regions, this year the ceremony was held to limit the number of participants. The rituals were still held in full, brief and solemn.
Though this year’s event was downsized due to the emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Vietnam, rituals still maintained parts of their long-standing traditions.
Some rituals are held in the To Tower area.
Attendants offered incense at the ancestor tower in order to pray for peace ahead in the new lunar year.
Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet, head of the Quang Ninh provincial Buddhist Sangha Executive Council, conducts traditional rituals as part of the occasion.
