In the phase of last October and early November, as rice terraces fields begin showing its bright yellow in the Dai Duc mountain regions (Tien Yen), this is a moment of “Soong Co yellow season” festival that is organized by the San Chi ethnic minority.

Tien Yen’s rice terraces fields were formed a long time ago with the harvesting area of 500ha and people’s farming experiences. The locals had improved the normal field becoming rice terraces, making a typical beauty of Dai Thanh, Dai Duc commune… When traveling to Quang Ninh’s North East land in the last days of October, visitors will be able to enjoy curved rice terraces stretched from the hill’s peak to the valley. Yellow of ripe rice, white of sky, green of forest were blended to create a majestic and poetic space.

The Yellow season festival of Dai Duc’s Soong Co region is an annual event that is a blending combination between tradition and modern. Not only it has a beauty of nature, but also it bears traditional cultural values, unique customs of the San Chi ethnic minority community here.

It honors the hard-working, creative, educational and solidarity mentality of historic locals, preserving and bringing into play special cultural values of San Chi People. This is an occasion for San Chi people in particular and ethnic minorities of the district and suburb areas gathering to exchange their culture. The festival will reappear San Chi people’s customs, “Praying “ ceremony like a gratitude to the god, pray for favorable rain and wind, all species to multiply, corn and rice to be harvested, peaceful villages, warm houses…

The series of festival activities was extended in the vibrant atmosphere of national sports competitions. At some golden season check-in points, many bamboo stalls and golden season viewing spots in Khe Ngan and Khe Lac villages have been renovated and renewed, creating favorable conditions for visitors to admire the rice waves like soft golden silk strips in the vast space.

At the rice terrace fields far from the eyes, paddy is already ripening which bring tourism, economic growth potentials and enhancing local life of Dai Duc commune.

The festive space truly opens unique experiences imbued ethnic minority’s tradition to tourists. The loud sound of people to players participating in collective games such as tug of war, push stick… At the rice terrace fields far from the eyes, paddy is already ripening which bring tourism, economic growth potentials and enhancing local life of Dai Duc commune.

From the effects of the first steps, Dai Duc commune was chosen to experimentally build a community tourism model. The first brick house was restored to become a homestay welcoming visitors at Na Mo area, Khe Luc village. This homestay still has traditional characters of San Chi people’s stilt house with foorboard, soil bricks around and roof is covered with yin and yang tiles. All houses have 5 bedrooms with a capacity of 18 people, in addition to a large yard is a place to exchange and perform Soong Co singing, Tac Xinh dance…

Dai Duc’s highland tourism model beard into a summarized plan on completing infrastructures, bringing into play travel potentials, strengths basing on a connection to border localities like Binh Lieu, Ba Che to exploit, combine and promote tourism here. The thing is opening a gate for Dai Duc commune to be known broader and having opportunities to develop stronger.
