In the framework of Clipper 2023-2024 Round the World Yacht Race, the Clipper Race fleets will visit Ha Long Bay from 17th February to 2nd March 2024.
Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is one of the biggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other. The race has the tradition of nearly 30 years, which is founded by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first person to sail solo non-stop around the world. Since the Race was held for the first time in 1996, almost 6,000 Race Crew from all walks of life and more than 60 nations have trained and raced in the Clipper Round the World Race.
In the 2023-24 edition, the fleet of 11 Clipper 70’s have to go through 8 legs including 16 Races and 6 times across the ocean. Race 7: Endless Discovery in Ha Long Bay begins in the picturesque Whitsundays, where teams experienced the thrill of the first Le Mans start of the Clipper 2023-24 Race, which set the stage for an exhilarating adventure.
The fleets will experience a long and hard journey of over 4000 nm and they are going to come to Ha Long Bay, Vietnam from 21st February to 2nd March. Here are the detailed schedule of Clipper Race teams in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh:
Between 21 – 26 the fleet is anticipated to arrive in Halong.
Between 28 – 29 Feb is when the Clipper Race Village will be open and the public can visit the international cruise terminal and see the yachts.
29 Feb is when we have public open boats meaning that the general public can have a yacht tour of a Clipper 70 and talk with the inspiring crew about the journey to Ha Long Bay.
2 March is Race Start where the public can see the Slipping of the Line ceremony where the boat leaves the dock and the Parade of Sail before the yachts head off to deeper water for the race start.
